Preliminary Task
Preliminary task
For our preliminary task we decided we wanted.to create a scene with a plot which was interesting and intriguing for the viewer. We decided our plot would be based around the exchange of money. the basic narrative was two men exchanging money and one of the characters, gives the other less money than he was owed. The video ends with the slaming of the case containing the money at 50 seconds. This leaves the audience with a sense of interest as to what was going to happen next and leaves them to think about the situation. We used editing in order to create a continuous and clear narrative for the audience and we used a few basic props to add to the effect and make the scene more visually interesting.
We used non diegetic sound leading up to the conversation within the office order to build tension up until the moment of speed. i thought that the tracking close up shot of the case was nicely framed and was kept steady in order to give the audience idea of the key matter of the scene and adds to the seriousness of the clip.
However within the office scene their were a few filming issues. I one shot their was a tripod which can be seen in the background of the match on action and the scene where one character is drinking tea. however this can be easily improved in future by ensuring no equipment is left in the shot, or re shooting the shot. we used props, music and camera angles in order to create the dramatic atmosphere we wanted.we made sure we used the 180 degree rule and variety of shots to make sure the content was interesting throughout the full 50 seconds.
overall i am pleased with the outcome of the scene as i feel the variety in shot types and sound keep the viewer engaged and i feel like the content is interesting throughout. however some slight improvements such as fixing the continuity error at 20 seconds when the character is drinking from a mug in one scene then in the next it has been placed down. i believe that if we payed attention to detail in the shots and sorted out the continuity of the shot the overall quality of our video would be improved. From our feedback we have received we have learnt that removing props and items used to film the footage should be moved in-between shots and that overall we created a good short video.
